Presentation

The Legal Defense Fund 2012 is a not for profit and non-partisan group acting in the context of the student struggle against the tuition hike. Its objective is to support arrestees and students unions that are burdened by overwhelming legal fees.

The Fund stands in solidarity with all the people arrested or detained in the context of the struggle against the tuition hike in 2011-2012, without consideration of their role in the organisation of actions or demonstrations or their political positions. The Fund considers that all students and activists arrested in the context of the student contestation have a right to logistical, human and financial support. The Fund considers that no one should be forced to plead guilty because of a lack of financial resources and it seeks to answer the needs of all the arrestees.

Our priorities

Arrestees :

  • Those who face criminal accusations that can lead to emprisonment;
  • Those who do not have access to other financial resources (through legal laid);
  • The activits targeted for their role in organisations;
  • For the contestation of tickets.

Student Unions :

  • For the contestation of injunctions (court orders) and the contestation of the Emergency Law 78 (Bill 78).

Donations

The present student conflict has been judicialized beyond all expectations: we have been targeted by more than 3000 arrests, around twenty injunctions and an emergency law. We are in great need of support and donations to face the huge expenses that this judicialization generates.

You can make a donation by check (preferably) or via Paypal (but a portion of up to 3% of the donation will go to Paypal for transactional fees).
